how to get my mum to get me get a wetsuit?

Ive always surfed in diving shorts or whatever they are but i figured since winter is on the way if i get a wetsuit i can stay nice and toasty an enjoy the waves, at the time when there isnt as many people. but id have to get my mum to aprove. her getting me one would be awsome but...in im probly buyin lol.. im 15 if it helps... also id probly use it for just recreational swimming to. in the pool and anywher else so if anyone can give good advice on purchasing one that would be nice how do you determine size? im srry rofl ive always used dive shorts.

Your body loses heat 25 times faster than normal when immersed in water. This makes it easy to get hypothermia even if the water temperature is seemingly mild. You could try explaining this to your mum, letting her know that if you had a wetsuit, it would be a lot safer for you. Of course, it could backfire and she might not let you surf and swim at all in the winter!

Do you have any of your own money you can put toward a wetsuit? If you don't have enough, maybe you can ask your mum for a loan so you can get the suit before it gets cold. Or ask for it as an early Christmas, birthday, etc. present.

A good fit is essential. Wetsuit manufacturers have size charts to give you an idea of what would fit for your height and weight, but they're no substitute for trying the suit on. So buying local is best; you take your chances with fit when you buy online.

Make sure you get a suit that is the appropriate thickness. This will depend both on the water temperature as well as your activity. For instance, a dive suit will be thicker than one for surfing.
